Crisis on Infinite Arts - Charles Vess' Spider-Man vs Hobgoblin

Click for larger image.

This was a poster inserted in a random comic back during the 80's.  I'm not sure which comic it came from, but I still have it to this day and it's one of my favourite Spider-Man images.  Charles Vess is the artist credited to it and he was the cover artist for several Spidey comics around that time frame, most notably, Web of Spider-Man #1 and Amazing Spider-Man #261 being my favourites from him.  Vess has done work on covers for Amazing Spider-Man, handled the art on the OGN Spider-Man: Spirits of the Earth and, arguably his most popular work, the art for Sandman #19, which you'll likely know as the critically acclaimed and award winning "A Midsummer Night's Dream" issue.  Vess also handled the art for Neil Gaiman's Stardust.

Just a little correction, you can clearly see on the Amazing Spider-man cover that it's from John Romita Jr, not Charles Vess. Great cover, altought.

I'm guessing you were talking about this one (ASM 262) : http://www.samruby.com/AmazingSpider-ManC/Large/AmazingSpider-Man261.jpg

I was flipping through some of my older Spider-Man comics a couple weeks ago, and I came across this poster inside one of them. My jaw hit the floor when I saw it...Vess is one of my favorite artists and I don't think I had ever realized I had this beautiful poster by him before! I can't remember which issue it was in, but I don't think it was one from the main Amazing Spider-Man series...perhaps it was Web of Spider-Man, which would make sense since that's one of the titles Vess is most well-known for.

What great image. Spidey looks like he's trying to reach God or something (like in the Sistine Chapel ceiling).

@Nick - Yeah, my bad. I meant 262. Not sure why I was thinking 250. Didn't even double check the artist. I'll correct that link.

That's an incredibly gorgeous piece of art. I never knew that Vess did superhero stuff since I'd only seen his work with Gaiman or his fantasy related stuff

I hate to say it, but you've still got the wrong cover.

Vess did he cover art for ASM #261.

ASM #262 is a photo cover.

Technically, the link went to the right cover, I just mistyped the issue number. Thanks for pointing out the typo. Hopefully nothing else wrong this time, lol.

Nice, I really like this a lot. It is not my background on my work computer.

I think the above image was from Spectacular Spider-Man #189 from the early 1990s. It was the one with the hologram on the cover for the 30th anniversary celebration. I was attracted to holographic covers back in the day (I was 11 and liked anything Spider-Man), but that image was my favorite part of the issue.

Wow, what a beautiful art! I haven't seen this one before, pretty awesome.

I think that it was published by Marvel Comics in The Amazing Spider-Man 30th Anniversary Poster Magazine (1992)

@Luigi

Having just purchased a new copy of the ASM 30th Anniversary Poster Magazine explicitly to get this poster, I can sadly say it's not in there. Vess does have a poster in that one, but it's not this image.

If anybody has an idea of where I could find it, I'd REALLY like to know.

I stumbled across this pin up after buying some old comics. unfortunately it was separate but the perforation tell me that it was part of a comic, the poster has C.Vess 92' on it indicating the image if from 1992. I know this poster is quite rear and my copy is quite beautiful.. any idea of the value?
