Let's do up some Covers of the Week, shall we? This time around, we've some astronomical heroes and some table top breaking face slams. If that sounds interesting, don't hesitate to hit the jump to check it all out, along with out honourable mentions!
Ken: Heroes smiling on covers? No, this isn't the golden age, it's just the bright spot in the world of comics. Heroes interacting with people in a manner outside of rescuing them, it's a humble feeling that this cover captures perfectly. Most Astro City covers have a Norman Rockwell quality to them, and this would be at the top.
Ken's Cover of the Week - Astro City #3 by Alex Ross
Grant: Since reading through his adaptation of Jim Henson's Tale of Sand, Ramón Pérez has been one of my favourite comic book artists. While I've been missing him on interiors, his Six Gun Gorilla covers have been out of this world. This one for issue #3 is no exception. It's got some amazing details in Blue's pained expression at the hands of that dangers killer. And I love how they're surrounded by the rebels and the pseduo-TV conglomerate, who have been on both sides of Blue this whole time. The absence of the gorilla on the cover is also a great nod to how much page space he gets within this individual issue. Well done, Mr. Pérez!
Runner-Ups: Adventure Time: Candy Capers #2, East of West #5, It Came! #1
